St. Angela’s boot defending champions St. Stephen’s

The Petra Organised Smalta Girls’s Pee-Wee football Championsips continued on Saturday at the Ministry of Education, ground with four quarter-finals matches, one of which saw the defending champions St. Stephen’s being knockout by St. Angela’s.
Nikosi St. Jules goal in the 24th minute was enough for a thrilling 1-0 win for the Thomas Street based unit progress to the semi-finals.

The other teams making progression to the last four are South Ruimveldt who will face St. Angela’s and West Ruimvelt who clash with St. Pius.
The other quarter-finals saw Enterprise losing 2-0 to South Ruimveldt after Raven Jacobs and Shania Sealy s netted in the 17th and 26th respectively.
St. Pius got the better of North Georgetown by a 2-1 margin after Donna Lowe (5th) and Kerry Boyce (20th) made conversions; Alicia James was North’s scorer in the 26th.
An own goal in the 19th and a netting by Amanda McPherson in the 29th allowed West Ruimveldt to ease to a 2-0 win over St. Agnes.
In the 9-16 section, F.E. Pollard won 2-1 over Redeemer, with Talia Wharton helping herself to a brace in the 5th and 8th while Oldacia Wilson in the 13th gave consolation to Redeemer; the other two matches saw Winfer Gardens and Tucville winning via walkover against St. Gabriel’s and Stella Maris respectively. Smith Memorial also won a walkover against St. Margaret’s.
The event resumes on Monday at the same venue will see, St. Margaret’s and St. Gabriel’s along with Stella Maris against Redeemer both do action from 10:00 hrs in the 13-16 play-offs.
From 10:45 in the 9-12 section, Smith Memorial will clash with Winfer Gardens while Tucville will be pitted against F.E Pollard.
The 5-8 action will commence at 11:30 hrs and Enterprise will oppose Stephen’s while North Georgetown faces St. Agnes; the semi-finals will commence at 12:15 hrs.
Trophies will be awarded to all 16 teams, while medals will be awarded to the top two finishers. On the individual side, accolades will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player, the Highest Goal Scorer and the Best Goalkeeper.
