Standpipe Foundation donates football gear

…also hosts medical outreaches in community

A glimpse of the Foundation’s medical outreach over the weekend

Over the weekend, the Tucber Park All Star United Football Club benefited from a timely donation, which is expected to boost the club’s prospects going forward. The donation of football gear came from the Standpipe Foundation.
The gear given to the Club included playing and training kits as well as several pairs of cleats.
“Basically, we’re just looking to improve the lives of residents of Tucber Park,” Public Relations Officer Julian Moore shared, speaking on the Foundation’s busy weekend.
At the presentation, President Kester Darlington urged the youngsters to give of their best, work hard and be disciplined. He also pledged the Foundation’s continued support for the football club. The items were received by Head Coach Jimmy King, in the presence of several of the club’s players.

“The Foundation basically came about from a conversation between past and present members of Tucber Park, who felt the time was right to pool our resources and give back to the community in a more tangible and organised manner,” Moore told Guyana Times Sport about the recently-formed Foundation.
At a separate event, the Standpipe Foundation hosted a medical outreach where in excess of 100 persons benefited from the various services offered. The Foundation also distributed 100 blood pressure monitors to persons attending the outreach.
Those BP monitors were presented to the Foundation by the Johnson family, who wished to assist the up-and-coming non-profit entity with its medical outreach programme.
“High and low blood pressure are two of the most common health issues we face in our communities and country at large, persons for various reasons do not get access to various check-ups. Our outreaches are once a month and we realised that that isn’t enough, hence we believe that these blood pressure monitors will be invaluable,” Moore added.
