Street triumphs over church

Titans defeated Tucville and were crowned champions of the “Church meet the Street” Jubilee Futsal Competition hosted by C&A Unique in collaboration with South Quake Youth Ministry on Thursday May 5 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
For a match that was marked with sheer aggression and speed it was eventually decided by penalties.
After regulation time the teams were deadlocked one goal apiece with the goal coming from Lawrence December for Tucville and Amais Benjamin for Team Titans. Team Titans were better able to hold their nerves and execute from the spot to cart off the ,000 first prize while their opponents had to settle for ,000.
Led by hat tricks from both Keifa Brandt and Ryan Hackett and a goal from Travel December Tucville were able to steamroll Ballerz FC in the first semi-final. Jamal Bristol and Leon Richardson were the scorers for Ballerz FC.
In the second semi-final eventual winners Titans booked their ticket for the finals by overcoming the challenge of young warriors by 3 goals to 1. On target for the titans were Amias Benjamin, Damian Williams and Akeem Singh while the lone goal for Young Warriors came from the boot of Shamar Barrow.
Ballerz FC the only Church team in the semi-final were adjudged 3rd place winners after gaining a walk over victory from Young Warriors.
Three teams contested the female competition which saw Prayer Warriors gaining victory against Amazing Grace by 2 goals to nil to clinch the championship. Both Goals were scored by Sasha James of Prayer Warriors.
Keifa Brandt was awarded the male MVP for scoring 5 goals while Sasha James who also netted five goals was the female MVP.
The event which was dubbed a success was sponsored by Banks DIH, National Sports Commission, Guyana National Newspaper Limited, Guyana Football Federation and Trophy Stall.
