Three students of the St John’s College, Georgetown, who were playing basketball at the Burnham Basketball Court was on Tuesday attacked by a lone bandit and robbed of their belongings.
The three students, aged 14 and 15, were robbed about 12:45h.
According to reports, the teens, who were on their lunch break, were playing basketball when they were approached by a lone man with a knife.
Guyana Times understands that as the game between the students were in progress, the man strolled up to a fourth student, who was observing the game, whipped out a knife and held him at knifepoint.
He then proceeded to demand that the teen hand over his cash; however, the frightened boy told the bandit that he had no money.
The 14-year-old was then instructed to hand over his classmates’ school bags so he complied.
Observing what was occurring, the other three boys ran towards the perpetrator and their classmate.
It was then that the perpetrator held all of them at knifepoint and robbed them of their cash, mobile phones, tablets, headsets, and phone chargers.
The suspect then fled the scene on a blue bicycle, south along the eastern carriageway of Carmichael Street, Georgetown.
The matter was reported to the administrative staff of the St John’s College, and the teens were accompanied to the Brickdam Police Station where a report was made.
Investigations are ongoing.
