According to reports, the fire razed Spencer’s three-bedroom house at D’Edward Village, West Bank Berbice, Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) which he shared with his 16-year-old son Osborne Spencer.
As a result of the blaze, the teen, who was completing his School-Based Assessment (SBA) projects, has lost his textbooks, notebooks and a laptop among other school items.
Spencer had told this publication that the fire was first spotted at about 03:00h and recalled that he was asleep when his son alerted him of the fire. More frustration was added as the painter by profession recently returned to Guyana from Barbados to assist his son with his Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations preparations.
Spencer has indicated that he will be rebuilding his home as soon as possible and would be grateful for the public’s assistance. He can be contacted via phone on 671-5476.
He also expressed his thanks for the company’s generosity upon receiving the donation at Superbet’s Head Office on Barrack Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
The General Manager, Shrikant Kisoensingh, conveyed that the company is always looking for means of giving back to the communities and this is their way of ending the year on a good note.
