Tahir urges Amazon Warriors to stay humble as TKR clash looms

The highest agenda post this weekend for many cricket fans is the Herculean clash between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders. The two heavyweights will battle on Monday, August 31, at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Captain of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Imran Tahir, is confident, as his team is the only undefeated team this season, recording three wins from three games. While Tahir’s confidence is paramount, he is urging his team to stay humble and perform well on the day.
“It’s a big clash. Everyone knows that it’s a big game. They have some world-class players, as do we. So, I think it depends [on] who’s gonna perform well on the day. We’re ready for it. We’ve been playing good cricket. We want to stay humble. Once we get there, we want to show what we’ve got,” Tahir said.
Reflecting on the Warriors’ latest victory, the Captain said it was a complete team performance, but there are areas to improve on.

“I think there is still a few things we need to improve on, to make sure if there is a couple of mistakes we make, then we won’t do it going forward in the next game,” Tahir explained.
Warriors are enjoying away success and will play their first game at home on September 4.
“Playing all the away games, I think it’s a big bonus if you’re winning on the road, and when you go home, then you always have a home advantage. Most importantly, there are certain people who stay behind the scene and they never get the credit, and I think Prasanna Agoram is one of the guys, who’s our analyst. He studied, I mean, [the] whole Caribbean. He’s been with us for the last three years, and the work; the amount of work he put in, gave us all the stats, all the plans, and stuff like that. It won’t come easy, and I think he put it up front of the team, and we all agreed as a bowling group, and we thought that obviously if we bowl first, that’s how we’re gonna go about our business.”
“That helps a lot. Sometimes you don’t know some different plans, but I think we have to appreciate his work. He’s been doing a great job for our team,” Tahir said.
