Tallawahs win 3 from 3 at home

The Jamaica Tallawahs are making the most of home advantage winning their third straight match at home with a clinical 19-run victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders at Sabina Park on Monday night in match 19 of Hero Premier League 2016.
The victory ensures that the Tallawahs go on top of the points table with 11 points from seven matches with one defeat and a no result. The Tallawahs victory was set up by their steady batting and purposeful bowling led by Andre Russell and Dale Steyn.

The Tallawahs were sent in and got to an adequate 158/7 from their 20 overs with Andre Russell and Rovman Powell making 44 each. Russell was more aggressive hitting five fours and three sixes from 24 balls while the young Powell used 34 balls hitting two fours and four sixes. Kumar Sangakkara made 23 (21 balls; 1×4; 1×6) after the Tallawahs captain Chris Gayle went without scoring at the end of the second over to peg back the home team.
However, steady partnerships saw the Tallawahs getting on top of the defending Champions Trinbago Knight Riders who only got to 139/9 from their quota of 20 overs thanks to a Russell’s magical spell of 23/4 from four overs. He was supported by Steyn (21/2) who is going back to South Africa while Imad Wasim, Shakib Al Hassan and Kesrick Williams all picked up one wicket.

The Knight Riders were on course in their run chase but after Hashim Amla 42 (36 balls; 2×4; 2×6) and Denesh ramdin went they crumbled and fell 19 runs short of their fourth win. They remain on six points from their seven matches.
Russell was named Man of the Match after his splendid all round match.
The Tallawahs next host the Tridents on Wednesday from 21:00h Guyana Time while the Trinbago knight Riders travel to St. Lucia to take on the Zouks on Tuesday July 26.
