Taxi driver beaten, robbed of car

The hunt is on for one black Toyota Juke motor vehicle bearing registration number PWW 6930, which was taken from the owner by three knife-toting bandits pretending to be customers in the wee hours of Monday.
The vehicle is owned by 30-year-old Dustin Greaves of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, who operates it as a taxi in the evening. Based on reports received, apart from the motor vehicle, the man was relieved of cash and a mobile phone.
Preliminary investigations conducted by Police revealed that on Monday morning, Greaves was operating the vehicle as a taxi outside Ocean Spring Hotel on Vlissengen Road, Kitty, Georgetown. He was approached by the three men, who asked to be taken to another location at Kitty.
As he was heading to their destination, one of the men informed him that they wanted to go on the East Coast of Demerara instead. Without thinking that something was amiss, the driver made his way to the East Coast of Demerara using the Railway Embankment.
In the vicinity of the Ogle Airport access road, the man, who was sitting behind the driver, started to choke him while the other in the front passenger seat dealt him several blows to the body as he demanded valuables.
The third suspect, who was also in the back passenger seat, reportedly took out a knife and dealt the VC several cuts to the body. Greaves was then tossed out the vehicle and the men made good their escape.
Meanwhile, the injured man managed to stop a vehicle that was passing and related what took place. He was subsequently taken to the Police Station where he made a report. He was then sent to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated and sent away. No arrests were made and the search for the vehicle continues.
