Taxi driver injured after car collides with truck

A taxi driver is presently nursing a fractured rib after the motor car he was driving reportedly collided with a truck along the Annandale Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Thursday. The injured man is 33-year-old Ijaz Gafoor of Hope West, Enmore, ECD.

Based in information received, the truck bearing registration number GWW 6076 was proceedings along the roadway while the taxi with plates HC 7123 was driving at a fast rate of speed, thus causing him to lose control.
As a result, the car collided with the right-side front of truck. Gafoor, however, sustained injuries to his body. He was pulled from the motor car by the driver of the truck and other public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted a patient.
On the other hand, a breathalyser test was administered on the driver of the truck but there were no sign of alcohol in his system. He was detained and is assisting with investigations.
