Taxi driver slapped with sheep larceny charge, granted $300,000 bail

A 50-year-old taxi driver has been charged with the larceny of sheep belonging to a 46-year-old housewife of Onderneeming Sandpit, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Dennis Simon of Reliance, Essequibo Coast, was charged under Section 84 of the Summary Jurisdiction Offences Act, Chapter 8:02, in connection with an incident which allegedly occurred on August 6 at Onderneeming Sandpit.

The charge was brought against Simon for allegedly stealing sheep belonging to Sursattie Narine.
The matter came before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The charge was read to Simon, to which he pleaded not guilty. The prosecution objected to bail, but the court granted him bail in the sum of $300,000.
The matter was adjourned to a later date for trial.
