Taxi drivers robbed of motorcars by knife-wielding, gun-toting bandits

A 21-year-old taxi driver was on Monday evening robbed of his Toyota Premio motorcar, PXX 4041, by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The incident occurred at about 18:45h along the Cove and John Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports received, the taxi driver was at Hope Turn, ECD when he observed two potential passengers signalling him to stop. Upon stopping, the men joined the car and asked to be taken to Strathspey Village. One of the men reportedly sat in the front passenger’s seat while the other sat at the back behind the driver.

As the victim was driving along the Cove and John Public Road, the passenger seated behind him held him at knife point and demanded that he stop the motorcar. Out of fear for this life, the driver complied, and upon stopping, the two men forced him out of the vehicle and then drove away.
The man, however, made his way to a Police Station and made a report.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old taxi driver of Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBD) was also robbed of his Toyota Wagon, HC 9708, by a lone gunman at Victoria Seawalls, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Monday.
The Police have said that the suspect and a female had allegedly joined the victim’s car at Parika, and they had journeyed to Georgetown.

The car with its music deck missing

Upon arrival in Georgetown, the driver was instructed to taken them to several other locations, including in Alberttown and Sophia, before being instructed to take them to Golden Grove, then to Victoria, ECD.
Upon arrival at Victoria, the male entered a yard which had a wooden house. When he returned to the car, he pointed a handgun at the driver and ordered him out of the vehicle. The victim was allegedly instructed not to make any sound, or else he would be shot.
The victim complied with the order, and handed over his mobile phone and $5000 in cash. The suspect then entered the car and drove away in the direction of the main road.
A report was made to the Police, and an investigation has been launched.
The motorcar was subsequently found at Drill Access Road at Mahaicony, ECD with its left and right-side rearview mirrors and music player missing.
