A mother of seven is calling for justice after her son was stabbed to death on Saturday evening during an effort to save his neighbour from being physically abused by her reputed husband at a shop at Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
Dead is 19-year-old Nyron Vyphuis, a handyman of Circuitville, Yarrowkabra.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, about 19:30h on Saturday evening, the now dead teen was at a liquor shop in the area owned by Anthony Jones.
However, the owner of the shop was imbibing with friends and suddenly started to abuse his spouse. The young man, upon realising what was happening, intervened and attempted to stop him from harming the woman.
At this time, Jones got annoyed and left, but he returned with an axe. The weapon

was eventually taken from him by other persons who were at the shop.
However, the furious man went into his home and again armed himself, this time with a knife which he used to attack and stab the teenager. The teen, in an effort to escape, ran a short distance, but collapsed to the ground as blood gushed profusely from the wound.
Friends of the teenager alerted his family members, who rushed to the scene where they found his lifeless body lying in a clump of bushes. The Police were contacted and the suspect was taken into custody while the teen’s body was removed from the scene.
When this publication visited the home of the teen, family members as well as friends were all in tears as they tried to comfort each other.
The dead teen’s cousin, Annette Smith told this newspaper that she last saw him alive about 15:30h on Saturday. The two of them had a conversation concerning the construction of his house.
“About 3:30, the carpenter that does work with him on the house come by me to call for him, so I said ‘Nyron is not at home, but I could go and find him where he deh’. So, I go through the track and I say ‘Nyron, the workman ready for you’ and he left and he come home,” she stated.
The stabbing, she related, stemmed from an argument between the owner of the shop and his reputed wife. She explained that the woman came home and saw her spouse “drinking” with another female.
