An 18-year-old was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after he was found with an illegal firearm at Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
According to Police reports, acting on information received, a party of Policemen of Regional Division 4B proceeded to Friendship Squatting Area, EBD at about 13:45h, where they observed a white Toyota Allion motorcar parked on the southern side of a street.

At the time, a male was seated in the back passenger seat. A search was carried out on the vehicle in his presence, and one black .32 Taurus pistol with three .32 live rounds of ammunition was found in the seat he was occupying.
He was immediately told of the offence and cautioned, during which he admitted ownership of the firearm and ammunition. He was arrested and escorted to the Grove Police Station, where he is assisting with investigations.
