Teen killed in hit and run

A Farm Village, East Bank Essequibo family may never have happy thoughts on any Valentine’s Day again after losing their teen son in a hit-and-run accident on the day of love.
Dead is 17-year-old Kwon Trotz, a labourer of Lot 12 Farm Village, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
On Friday evening at about 23:00h, Trotz was walking in the eastern direction along the northern side of the EBE Public Road and was a short distance away from his residence when he was struck down.
Reports are the speeding motor car slammed into the teenager and quickly sped away from the scene as the lad’s body lay bleeding on the roadway.
According to Police, persons in the vicinity rushed to the teen’s aid and rushed the 17-year-old to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, West Coast Demerara (WCD), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem examination (PME) is expected to be conducted during this week.
Meanwhile, investigators are on the hunt for the vehicle that was involved in the accident. Police have since indicated that they will be examining Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage along the EBE and WCD routes to determine the route that the vehicle took after fleeing the scene.
