Teen mom, boyfriend arrested in CANU drug bust

A 19-year-old mother of one and her 33-year-old boyfriend were arrested by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) during a drug bust in Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

CANU on Saturday said that the raid was conducted at the two-bedroom house located at C Field Sophia, on Friday. Ranks unearthed suspected amphetamines, methamphetamines and ganja in a bedroom.
Following the discovery, the teen and her boyfriend were taken into custody pending investigations.
In a statement on Saturday, CANU disclosed that the suspected prohibited substances were discovered in one of the two bedrooms in the house, and were in both powdered and pill forms. They also revealed that the marijuana amounted to eight grams.
“The female had a baby in her care at the time of arrest and was allowed to place the child in the care of another individual whilst she remained in CANU’s custody,” CANU said in a statement
