Teen stabbed after attacking neighbour

A 19-year-old man is presently hospitalised after he was stabbed to his stomach by his neighbour during a brawl at No 65 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, on Saturday.
Police stated that the now injured teen and the 44-year-old suspect had a previous misunderstanding and on the day in question, the young man staked out a shop in close proximity to the man’s house.
Upon seeing the man, the teenager attacked him with a piece of wood and a scuffle ensued. The brawl ended after neighbours intervened.
However, the man went home, armed himself with a piece of wood and waited on the teenager. As the teenager was passing the suspect’s house, he was attacked and another fight broke out between them.
During the fight, both men were seen brandishing knives during which the suspect stabbed the teenager three times to his stomach.
Persons in the neighbourhood once again intervened and the injured teenager was picked up and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was treated and transferred to New Amsterdam Hospital.
There, he was admitted a patient in a serious but stable condition. The suspect has been arrested and is assisting Police with their investigation.
