Vendor remanded for killing Stabroek Market vendor
A 46-year-old man has been remanded to prison for the murder of Stabroek Market vendor Robert Bizzeth known as “Brick” or “Channa Man” of Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt.
Kimbia James Prescod called “Bow Life” and “Moon Light”, an umbrella vendor, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on June 26, 2021, at Stabroek Market Square, Georgetown, he murdered 35-year-old Bizzeth. The now-dead man sold cooked channa in and around the Stabroek Market area.
The murder accused was remanded to prison and the case was adjourned to July 29.
Police in a statement said that the killing occurred at around 16:30h on the day in question. Reports are that the duo got into an argument during which the now dead man threatened Prescod who retaliated by pulling out a knife from his waist.
As they argued, Bizzeth, who was armed with an axe, chased Prescod. When Prescod fell to the ground, Bizzeth stopped chasing him. However, as Bizzeth was walking, Prescod stabbed him several times. The injured man ran to the nearby Police outpost where he collapsed.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. As for Prescod, he was arrested by Police ranks on patrol at Camp and New Market Streets, Georgetown. (G1)
