Teenager among 2 busted with ganja at Parika shop

Two women, one of whom is a teenager, were arrested on Friday following the discovery of a quantity of marijuana at a shop at the Parika Junction, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
The Police have said that on the day in question, at about 20:30h, ranks acting on information received conducted a cordon-and-search exercise at this shop at the Parika Junction, owned by a 52-year-old businesswoman of Parika Retreat Road, EBE.

During this search, in which members of the Community Policing Group participated, several Ziplock plastic bags and a “Pringles” container with a quantity of ganja concealed therein were found on the premises. The find was brought to the attention of the businesswoman, and she was told of the offence committed and was cautioned, but she remained silent.
A further search was conducted on an 18-year-old female acquaintance of the businesswoman who was at the shop at the time, and a black plastic bag containing several other Ziplock plastic bags which each contained ganja was discovered.
Following this discovery, the teenager also remained silent when questioned by the cops.
The two women were arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station. The narcotics found on the 18-year-old woman, when weighed, amounted to 29.04 grams, while the narcotics found in the shop amounted to 5.27 grams.
These women remain in custody, pending charges.
