Several persons are now injured after a motorcyclist collided with a minibus before swerving into a group of teenage pedestrians on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Saturday night.
Injured is 22-year-old motorcyclist Dellon Marks of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast. The pedestrians are an 11-year-old and 16-year-old of Section C Block Y, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, as well a 14-year-old of Coffee Grove, Essequibo Coast.
Police on Sunday said that the accident occurred sometime around 20:51h on the Danielstown Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
According to Police, minibus BWW 587 owned and driven by a 43-year-old man of Sparta village, Essequibo Coast, was proceeding south on the eastern drive lane when it is alleged by the bus driver that the motorcyclist, who was proceeding in the same direction, collided with the front right side of the bus.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist then collided with the group of young pedestrians and ended up on the western parapet.
The motorcyclist and pedestrians were picked up and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where they were all admitted as patients.
The 11-year-old is hospitalised with a fractured right foot while the 16-year-old has a broken hip and the 14-year-old has lacerations about his body. The motorcyclist was admitted with lacerations about his body.
The driver of minibus BWW 587 is in custody assisting with the investigations.
