Test of Endurance heads to South Dakota

The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) will have their first event of the year when they host the Endurance Meet at the South Dakota Circuit today from 13:00h.
In the first class, cars up to 1500cc will be considered eligible, with the second class being from 1501 to 1600cc. The third class will see cars in the 1601-2000cc class with the unlimited class featuring cars over 2000cc. Bikes will run in one class and teams will be charged $5,000 to register.

Points will be awarded to individual drivers and will range from first to tenth, with first place being awarded 25 points, second place 18, third place 15, fourth place 12; fifth place 10, sixth place gets eight, seventh gets six, eighth gets four, ninth gets two and tenth gets one.
The same will be applied for mechanics as the end of the 2018 year will feature a champion mechanic.
After a competitors meeting it was decided that the club will ditch the manual ‘hand timing’ system and utilize the same transponder system that circuit racing uses.
Cyril Angoy has been appointed the Clerk of the Course for this event with cars being gridded based on how they signed up for the event.
Each team will comprise two members with drivers doing a maximum of one and a half hour and a minimum of half an hour.
The Endurance championship will be followed by a local drag race meet on February 11 with the club’s Annual General Meeting set for the 16th. Admission to the venue is free.
