Chase blows away Carmel 12-0

Chase Academic Foundation began their quest for a fourth consecutive Milo Schools Football title with a twelve-goal hammering of Carmel Secondary on the opening day of the tournament on Saturday at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The under-18 competition which is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health under the theme “there is no excuse for violence,” saw the formidable defending champion who are coached by National player Vurlon Mills hardly making wrong steps in the one-sided encounter.
Captain, Jeremy Garrett led with two goals in the second and 49th minute while Malachi Adonis (22nd & 24th) and Stephan Rudd (42nd & 65th) also supported with a brace each.
At halftime is was already 6-0 and with the assistance of an own goal, Chase continued to soar ahead. Also etching their names in the drubbing were Randel Peters (21st), Nicholas McArthur (29th), Isiash Jack (52nd), Kevin Padmore (62nd) and Marcus Wilson (64th).
Earlier, Buxton Youth Development and St Roses High were on the winning end on the busy opening day. Buxton fended off Business School 4-2 with Shemar Kingston netting a double (27th & 70th), Shamar Singh (52nd) and Shamar Scott (66th).
For the opposition Jermaine Padmore slotted in the 7th and 15th while Akeem Forde (21st) and Shane France (45th) helped St. Roses get the better of Cummings Lodge.
Today South Ruimveldt battle Charlestown from noon after which Masters Academy face Queenstown Secondary from 13:30h. Curtains will be drawn on the day’s proceedings when Sir Leon Lesson clash with Uitivulgt Secondary from 15:00h.
Teams will be hoping to secure the first place prize of $500,000 which goes towards a school project. Second to fourth, will receive $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively which also go towards school projects.
