A smattering of family and supporters gathered at the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) for what turned out to be a scintillating and evenly-matched encounter before Timehri tightened the noose in the second half.

Nyron Barrow takes a shot from the spot in the EBFA Elite League Qualifier final

Timehri got ahead early, on the account of a Swan error in the box in the fifth minute. Presented a penalty opportunity, Nyron Barrow made no mistake handing his team the early 1-0 lead.
Fifteen minutes later, Tyrone Burnette found the back of the net to double Timehri’s lead. However, Timothy Adrian gave Swan some hope, getting past the young Timehri keeper in the 42nd minute to fix the scoreline at 2-1 at the end of the first half.
Swan made several close advances in the opening stages of the second segment, but just could not get past the Timehri defence. Clearly in a no-nonsense mood, Timehri turned on the jets late in the second half to produce another four goals.
Michael Correia began the onslaught in the 77th minute while Joseph De Fratias registered a brace in the 80th and 90th minutes.
Adding the cherry on top for Timehri, Swan’s Michael Williams made the grave mistake of netting an own goal in the 89th minute, adding to their tally.
As such, Timehri United completed the 6-1 victory and now turn their attention to the Elite League Qualifiers, which will see them challenging the top teams from other Regional Member Associations for a coveted spot in the upcoming season of Guyana’s highest football league.
