Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) left-arm spinner Antony Adams has already begun his new chapter in cricket. The Essequibo senior captain was recently appointed as Assistant Coach for the Guyana Under-19 team that will be in Antigua for the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Under-19 tournament in July.
Adams is also a member of the Guyana Police Force cricket team and he received an inspiring congratulatory message from the men in uniform.
“Commissioner of Police Mr Clifton Hicken, Deputy Commissioner “Administration” and Chairman of Guyana Police Force Cricket, Mr Ravindradat Budhram, Police cricketers and ranks of the Guyana Police Force extend heartfelt congratulations to Antony Adams on his appointment as Assistant Coach of the Guyana National Under-19 Cricket Team for the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Under-19 Tournament in Antigua from July 7-23, 2026.
“Adams, a member of the Guyana Police Force cricket team and a coach within the Force’s cricket programme, has made meaningful contributions to cricket both as a player and coach. A Guyana cricketer, left-arm spinner and Level Two Coach, he has represented Guyana at the senior level, served in key coaching roles and continues to contribute to the development of young cricketers.
“His appointment is a proud achievement for the Guyana Police Force cricket fraternity and reflects his dedication, leadership, discipline and commitment to the continued development of cricket in Guyana.
“As a Police cricket coach, Adams continues to share his experience and knowledge of the game with fellow players, while supporting the growth and advancement of cricket within the Force. We wish Antony every success in this new assignment, and trust that he will continue to make Guyana and the Guyana Police Force proud,” Guyana Police Force cricket posted on their social media platform.
Adams has been a consistent performer in local competitions in the past, topping the wicket charts, but he has been left out of many Guyana teams. The likes of Veerasammy Permaul and Gudakesh Motie are the preferred options for Guyana. Adams has played two matches for Guyana, one List A and one First-Class game.
