Top horses set to battle for bragging rights

New Year’s Day Presidential Cup horse racing…

After a thrilling Boxing Day Horse Race meet at Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club on Thursday last, the top horses will renew their rivalry at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 (New Year’s Day).

The Presidential Cup horse race meet, which is organised by Better Way Entertainment, will feature six races with over $3.5M in cash prizes and trophies up for grabs.
This event will see the likes of Guyana Cup Champion horse and the horse for 2019, Lucky Star; Don’t Overlook, Jus Call Me Boss, Valentina, Not This Time; and Storm Bird, who is fresh from a million-dollar win at the Boxing Day event.
The Feature event listed on the card is for horses classified C and Lower, and the top horse to conquer the one-mile race would bag $700,000 and trophy.
In the other events listed on the programme, the G and Lower race over 1100 metres has a top cash prize of $350,000 and trophy. The I and Lower race has a top prize of $300,000 and trophy, while the race for two-year-old animals will be contested for a winning purse of $200,000 along with trophy.
In the event for J and K and Lower non-winners for 2019, the winner will race away with a winners’ take of $175,000 and trophy.
The L and lower animals will be galloping for a bounty of $150,000 and trophy. The first race is expected to run-off from 12:30 hours.
