Three matches were scheduled for Saturday while two are set for today. However, it seems as only one game will be afforded play this weekend and it is the encounter featuring Police Sports Club and Sophia.

Saturday was predicted to be very competitive as Police was to host Everest Cricket Club, GYO was at home to Transport Sports Club (TSC) and Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) were to open their campaign at MSC. However, that was not the case as all three matches was postponed before game time after heavy downpour in the city on Saturday morning.

Some of the country’s top and emerging cricketers were to feature in those matches but unfortunately they will have to wait longer before they get an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Today’s match between Ace Warriors and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) at GYO has already been put off while Police will clash with minnows Sophia is still on.

Police will be spearheaded by in form all-rounder Kevin Leitch and have a good chance of repeating last week’s success against another minnow. Or Sophia could apply a team effort and upset the Lawmen as they had done on previous occasions to major teams in this competition.

The tournament is hosted by the GCA but sponsored by the New Building Society.
