Tribute to the late Harold B Davis

Dear Editor,
This week marks the 6th anniversary of the death of Mr Harold B Davis; I feel a strong need to publicly acknowledge the sterling contributions made by this great son of Guyana in the development of the human resources of this dear land of ours.
First as the education and training officer, then as the Director of Human Resources of Bookers Sugar Estates Ltd, and finally as Chairman of the Guyana Sugar Corporation, Mr Davis’ contribution to Human Resources Development has so far been unparalleled.
His initiation of the Bookers Cadetship programme, which was responsible for the identification and development of a slew of Guyanese with the technical and managerial skills to run the sugar industry, is among his most nodal contribution and undoubtedly the most notable of his many achievements. I am happy to acknowledge my own good fortune in benefitting from the GuySuCo cadetship programme.
It is also interesting to note that he has also provided the country with a son, HB Davis (Jnr), who is the current Chairman of GuySuCo.

Sincerely,
Nowrang Persaud
