Home News Trio face trial for 2015 gunning down of Rubis accountant
Stancy Rodney, 30; Linton Eastman, 27; and Clifton Gibson, 34, are scheduled to make another court appearance today at the Demerara High Court for the commencement of their trial.
The trio is accused of gunning down Rubis Gas Station accountant, Jason Cort, on June 17, 2015, at his Lot 262 Jamoon Drive, Meadowbrook home.
The accused made their appearance on Monday but did not plea to the charge, as the trial will commence today before Justice Brassington Reynolds.
On the date the trial was expected to resume, Justice Reynolds aborted same and discharged the jury after conversations relating to the trial was overheard by a witness. This decision was taken since this development may lead to trial having a prejudicial outcome.
Cort was fatally shot to the chest shortly after entering his premises with his fiancé, Shauna Garraway. He was rushed to Balwant Singh Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Several persons had related that upon hearing the loud explosion and looking outside, they observed persons scaling the fence of Cort’s home and making good their escape up the road.
