The Georgetown “City” Regional Basketball play-offs are set to begin today, June 3 with eight schools still in contention for the title after an impressive group-stage campaign that saw Tutorial High and St Rose’s High emerge as the top seeds.
Tutorial High completed a perfect run through Group A, winning all five of their matches to finish on 10 points. St Stanislaus College secured second place with seven points, while Brickdam Secondary also ended on seven points, but placed third after tie-break procedures. Christ Church claimed the fourth and final playoff position from the group with six points.
Group B was dominated by St Rose’s High, which won all six of its matches to finish with a maximum 12 points. Queen’s College and The Bishops’ High A each accumulated 10 points, with Queen’s College securing second position and Bishops’ High A taking third. Marian Academy completed the quarter-final line-up after finishing fourth with nine points.

The quarter-finals will be contested today, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. St Rose’s High will meet Christ Church at 15:30h (03:30 pm), St Stanislaus College will face The Bishops’ High A at 16:30h (04:30 pm), Tutorial High will battle Marian Academy at 17:30h (05:30 pm), and Queen’s College will take on Brickdam Secondary at 18:30h (06:30 pm).
The winners will advance to the semi-finals on June 5 before the third-place playoff and championship match are played on June 7.
Tournament organisers noted that tied teams were separated using head-to-head results and, where necessary, points differential in accordance with competition rules.
Meanwhile, the semi-final field for the East Coast “Country” Regional has also been confirmed, with President’s College, Plaisance Secondary, Hope Secondary and Golden Grove advancing to the knockout stage.
President’s College topped the standings with seven points from four matches, remaining unbeaten with three wins and one no-result. Plaisance Secondary finished second on five points from three matches, while Hope Secondary and Golden Grove also ended on five points to secure the remaining semi-final places.
Good Hope narrowly missed out on qualification despite finishing on five points, ending fifth after the application of tie-break criteria. Annandale Secondary placed sixth with four points, while Anns Grove finished seventh on two points. Tournament officials noted that several teams played a stronger schedule, a factor that was considered during the final standings assessment.
The East Coast semi-finals are scheduled for June 10, with Plaisance Secondary facing Hope Secondary at 16:00h (4:00 pm) and President’s College taking on Golden Grove at 17:00h (5:00 pm). The winners will meet in the final on June 11, while the losing teams will contest the third-place playoff.
