Six teams will participate in a new U-19 tournament on Sunday as the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) secures sponsorship from Trophy Stall to assist in the venture.
At a simple but significant presentation ceremony held recently at the new Trophy Stall outlet at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Vicky Bharosay, former Treasurer of the UCCA and Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), thanked Ramesh Sunich and his company, Trophy Stall, for opening a branch in close proximity to the club, and for coming on board with the Association. He promised that the tournament would be of a high standard, with intention to groom players for the first division, Berbice, Guyana and Windies teams.
Sunich, in response, said he follows the work of the Association, and is impressed with the standard of cricket administration. He also mentioned that he is pleased to be associated with the UCCA, and is happy to be on board.
He further stated that he feels privileged to be the sponsor of this tournament, and to give opportunities to young cricketers.
Meanwhile, the newest Trophy Stall branch will be opened in January, 2019, and will serve the Berbice community with quality tokens for sports and many other related services.
The tournament will follow a round robin format and will see three matches in the first round.
The fixtures are:
No. 73 Warriors vs. No. 72 Cut and Load
No. 48 Cricket Club vs. No. 66 Cricket Club
Scottsburg vs. No. 73 Mandir
