Action Invest Caribbean in collaboration with the British High Commissioner to Guyana Greg Quinn on Saturday evening launched the second edition of the “Who’s Who in Guyana” business directory.

During the launch, which was held at the British High Commissioner’s Bel Air residence, the British High Commissioner stated that more investors from the United Kingdom have indicated their interest in coming to Guyana.
“I am happy to say that a large number of UK businesses continue to want to do business here In Guyana. Whenever I first arrived here in Guyana five years ago, I would get maybe one British business coming and talking to me every week. Now I get one or two British businesses talking to me every day,” Quinn stated.
The diplomat further stated that they are elated to see such interest towards Guyana since it will benefit not only Guyana but the UK.
“It is important to say that it is not just about oil, and it’s not just about gas, these are all sorts of businesses be their retail, be their services, be their infrastructures. In my view that shows that they are many different opportunities in many different areas here in Guyana,” she stated.
Quinn posited that there will always be oil and gas related work, and oil is very important, but all businesses are not about oil and gas.
“Oil will provide the money and the funds to build the infrastructure, to build the skills of people, to build the education, to build the health facilities, and build social services that will benefit every member of the society. It is important for all of us to remember that oil and gas provide the money for everything else… all business is not about oil and gas”, he said.
Nevertheless, he said that the directory will show foreign investors what Guyana needs.
Executive Chairman of Action Invest Caribbean, Vishnu Doerga said that the directory came at an opportune time. He said that it features key insights from industry-related leaders and economic reviews. These reviews, local and international, focus on the benefits of investing and provides insight into how to make the best investment decisions in Guyana.
