Reports are that the teen, who was shot by Police when he was 15, was seen riding a motorcycle along Freeman Street, Georgetown without a helmet and a Police Officer gave chase.

Guyana Times was informed that the Police Officer recognised the teen who was wanted for questioning in a recent robbery.

While in pursuit, the Policeman fell off his motorcycle. However, when he got up, he took out his gun and fired two shots in the direction of the teen.

One of the bullets missed but the other hit the teen to his leg and he subsequently fell.

He was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). It was there that Police realised that he was not the holder of a licence.

In 2014, Griffith was said to have witnessed a robbery and was taken into custody for questioning.

However, while in custody he was shot by a Cadet Officer. At the time, several social activists had protested over the matter. The Cadet Officer was charged.

However on January of 2015, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who was presiding over the matter at the time, dismissed the case because of the lack of evidence.
