An unoccupied wooden house at First Street, Swamp Section, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Regin Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning. The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) said that it responded to the blaze after the one-flat structure was reported to be on fire. Upon the arrival of firefighters, the building was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and subsequently extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading further.
However, the building and its contents were completely destroyed. The GFS said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
