Vege Boys and Younger Achievers notched wins in the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Stag League on Saturday at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground.
The Vege Boys win was their first, as they edged Wales 3-2 due a complete team effort, as the trio of Shamar Hetemyer, Cordell Walcott and Carlos Caesar scored in the 10th, 31st and 75th minute respectively. On the losing side, Lawrence Phillips scored a double with his
strikes coming in the 46th and 51st minute.
The result means Vege Boyz move from the cellar to ninth spot on three points while Wales dropped to 10th position, remaining on two points.
In the other match, Young Achievers overcame Golden Warriors 2-1 by virtue of goals by Tiefel Adams and Stephon Jupiter, who scored in third and 19th minute respectively while Jermin Isaiah notched a consolation goal in the 62nd minute.
Dellon Layne of Golden Warriors was given a red card after picking up two yellow cards in a hard fought match.
Young Achievers now move in to the fifth spot with six points while Golden Warriors dropped to seventh place, remaining on three points.
