Vehicle accident results in some EBD communities without water – GWI

A motor vehicle accident that occurred over the weekend, has resulted in damages to a Guyana Water Inc (GWI) 6-inch transmission main trench crossing in the vicinity of Pearl, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
As such, the company has advised that the Caledonia Water Treatment Plant is off for repairs to be made to the broken pipeline.
Customers in Garden of Eden; Brickery; Supply; Support; Relief; Land of Canaan; Sarah Johanna; Pearl; Caledonia; Coverden and Den Huevel, areas served by the Caledonia Water Treatment Plant, have seen disruption in their water supply.
According to a social media post by GWI, their technical team has been mobilized, and is working to carry out repairs in the shortest possible time.
The GWI added that it sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience, and encourages the public to report water disruptions or visibly damaged GWI pipelines and other infrastructure to 227-8701.
It also advised that persons stay connected to their Facebook page for more updates. Up to the time of writing, no update has been posted.
