Police in Regional Division Two are investigating the discovery of a quantity of cannabis found during a patrol at Charity Waterfront, Essequibo Coast, on Sunday.
According to reports, ranks were conducting patrol duties around 18:15h when they observed a 29-year-old vendor of Charity Backstreet acting in a suspicious manner. A search was carried out, during which officers found a transparent plastic bag containing 25 small Ziploc bags. Each contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. The items were concealed in the front of the man’s pants. Police also discovered $240,000 on the suspect, which is believed to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics. He was arrested and escorted to the Charity Police Station along with the suspected cannabis and cash.

The cannabis was weighed in the presence of the suspect and amounted to 36.2 grams before being lodged. The cash was also lodged as part of the investigation. The suspect remains in custody pending charges.
