Venezuelan, 2 Guyanese charged for possession of 70lbs of ganja

Two Guyanese along with a Venezuelan were on Friday brought before the Leonora Magistrate’s Court after they were charged for trafficking some 70 pounds

Siddique Karahmad, 27; Emroy Carvaio, 20; and Ricardo Garcia, 32, appeared before Magistrate Zamina Ali-Seepaul where they denied that on January 31, 2019, at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, they had in their possession 32.05 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Reports are the men were under Police surveillance for a lengthy period prior to the bust.
Karahmad was allegedly identified as being the transporter of the drugs which

were reportedly supplied to him by Carvaoi and was to be sold to Garcia, who allegedly scheduled to smuggle same to Venezuela.
CANU Prosecutor Konyo Sandiford revealed to the court that there is sufficient evidence available for the men to be convicted. She submitted that bail be denied, and her request was granted. The men were remanded and the case will continue on February 18, 2019.
