Venezuelan stabbed to death during altercation at Soesdyke bar

A Venezuelan national was on Saturday evening stabbed to death during an altercation at a popular bar at the Soesdyke-Linden Highway Junction, East Bank Demerara (EBD). Dead is 29-year-old Yocter Eduardo Gonsalves of Ideal Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Based on reports received, the now dead man along with his brother and a few friends were at the bar consuming alcohol when the suspect who hails from Soesdyke, EBD, approached them. Soon after, the victim and the suspect were involved in a heated argument with escalated into an altercation.
However, during the scuffle, the suspect reportedly whipped out a knife and dealt the victim one stab to his right-side chest, thus causing him to collapse to the ground.
After committing the act, and out of fear, the suspect made good his escape. The injured young man was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, quick action by the Police led to the apprehension of the suspect, who remains in custody assisting with investigations.
Just last week, 43-year-old Venezuelan national Rafael Antonio Aquino Soto was stabbed to death at Return, Baramita, North West District.
Police stated that the suspect and the victim, who are not known to each other, were at a shop at Return, Baramita, NWD, consuming alcohol at about 16:00h on February 10, 2022, after which they both left the premises.
They nevertheless, met up again along a trail where the victim convinced a female to go with him instead of with the suspect. When she did, the suspect allegedly became annoyed and a heated argument ensued, the Police said.
The Police stated that the suspect then pulled out a knife from the waist of his pants and dealt the victim one stab to his chest and escaped. He is yet to be arrested.
