Visa waiver for travel to Colombia in the pipeline – Harmon

A trip to South American Spanish-speaking country Colombia might soon become easier, as discussions are now underway for Guyanese to benefit from a visa waiver.

Foreign Affairs Minister Carl Greenidge and his Colombian counterpart are soon to enter into negotiations regarding the abolition of visas for the holders of ordinary passports within the two countries.

This initiative comes on the heels of a wider discussion to promote free travel among Members of States of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

State Minister Joseph Harmon, who made the announcement on Thursday morning, explained that the reciprocal visa waiver will pave the way for increased trade and investment activities between the two countries.

Previously, the State Minister announced that discussions were underway to develop a plan for the establishment of a common South American passport which will provide the opportunity for South American nationals to travel freely across the continent.
