VMFA youngsters dominate GFF/GFA Youth Ensemble awards

The Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) underlined its strength at the youth level by capturing both divisional titles and several individual awards in the Georgetown leg of the 2026 GFF/GFA Youth Ensemble.
VMFA accumulated 25 points to win the Under-13 championship before completing the double with 30 points in the Under-15 competition. The leading teams and individual performers were recognised during an awards ceremony on August 6.
In the Under-13 tournament, Beacon Football Club finished second with 20 points, while Fruta Conquerors Football Club secured third place with 19 points.
Beacon’s Isco Grumble enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 10 goals to claim the leading scorer award. He was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

VMFA’s Adiel Hamilton received the Most Valuable Player award, while his teammate Johnny Carprio was adjudged the best goalkeeper after conceding only one goal. Western Tigers Football Club’s Thyatira King was recognised as the best female player.
VMFA also controlled the Under-15 tournament, finishing six points ahead of second-placed Fruta Conquerors, who collected 24 points. Beacon ended the competition in third position with 21 points.
Joshawn Haynes led VMFA’s individual award winners after scoring 16 goals to finish as the tournament’s top marksman. Aaron Vasconcellos was named the Most Valuable Player, while Shaden Cornelius collected the best goalkeeper award after conceding four goals.
The competition was organised by the Guyana Football Federation in partnership with the Georgetown Football Association.
It forms part of the GFF’s nationwide youth development programme under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, which provides structured competition for young footballers and strengthens the pathway towards future national team representation.
The GFF congratulated the participating clubs, players, coaches, match officials, volunteers and the GFA for helping to deliver another successful edition of the Youth Ensemble.
