Volleyball champions Hururu Hydra ready for title defence

The defending champions, Hururu Hydra, will be in Georgetown today as they aim to retain their title at the highly anticipated Republic Bank/One Guyana “B” Division Volleyball Tournament.
Known for their fierce teamwork and dynamic play, the Hydras are determined to showcase their championship pedigree once again on the national stage.
Representing the team in this year’s competition are Denzil Sauers, Kenroy Thornhill, Kellon Phillips, Jaheem Croft, Gideon Hartman, Roneil DeQuoy, Linden Hernandez, Timothy Williams, Gregory Lambert, Bevon Lambert, Lynton Osborne, and KT Thornhill. The line-up blends experience with youthful energy, promising another strong showing from the squad.
The tournament, which serves as one of the premier events on the local volleyball calendar, kicks off today in Georgetown and will feature top male and female teams from across Guyana. Matches will culminate this weekend with the grand finals scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and the National Gymnasium.
With over $1.9 million in trophies and cash prizes up for grabs, the competition is expected to be intense as teams battle for national glory and bragging rights.
Organisers have hailed the event as a vital platform for developing volleyball in Guyana, giving emerging players a chance to gain exposure and compete at a high level.
As volleyball enthusiasts flock to Georgetown for what promises to be a weekend of thrilling rallies and electrifying spikes, all eyes will be on the reigning champions to see whether the mighty Hururu Hydra can once again rise above the competition and retain their crown.
