Walton century powers Jamaica to ABCA T20 title

̶ Permaul wins tournament’s MVP Award

Chadwick Walton’s marauding century helped Jamaica clinch the Antigua/Barbuda Cricket Association’s (ABCA) Tri20 title, beating Guyana by 36 runs in Saturday’s final played at the Sir Viv Richards Ground in Antigua.
The Jamaican skipper clobbered 101 off 68 balls, with nine fours and a handful of sixes; while Guyanese Trevon Griffith, who represents Jamaica, crunched an unbeaten 43-ball 69, helping Jamaica post a formidable 206-2 in their 20 overs.
Seamers Romario Shepherd (1-41) and Chris Barnwell (1-37) were the only two Guyanese bowlers to make inroads.
Guyana, chasing a stiff target, were kept to 167-8, with Anthony Bramble top-scoring a defiant 63 not out, while Barnwell’s 27 and Shepherd’s 24 * were the other notable scores, after Oshane Walters had bagged 4-21 for the Jamaicans.
Meanwhile, Guyanese left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul was named Player of the Tournament. The Guyana team was expected back on Sunday afternoon.
