The Guyana Amazon Warriors will gather on July 25 for a one-week preparation camp ahead of their first match in the Hero Caribbean Premier League on August 5 in Florida against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
According the Warriors’ Assistant Manager John Ramsingh in an interview with Guyana Times Sport on Wednesday, sessions will be held at the National Stadium, Providence and headed by coach Roger Harper and assistant Esuan Crandon. The camp concludes on August 2.

Gelling as a team is critical for total performance

With six new comers to the Squad, namely Chadwick Walton, Rashid Khan, Steven Taylor, Keon Joseph, Gajanand Singh and Roshon Primus, Ramsingh contended that the camp will be integral to bonding of players.
“The core of the Amazon Warriors from 2016 has been retained but it has been a year away from each other and it is good to get that camp and back in gear since they want to hit the ground running when the get to Florida”, Ramsingh stated.
With the exception of the West Indies Tour to England, the August 4 to September 9 tournament will not be clashing other major actives which will possibly allow the entire squad to stay for the duration of the tournament.
This Assistant Manager believes this bodes well for a change in their championship fortunes after being in three of the four finals but yet not winning.
“CPL was very strategic in choosing the dates to suit this window period where there is no other world tournament to make all players available because of that and the composition of the Amazon Warriors I think this time we will go to the beach and take a take a bath because it was previously stated, the Warriors will go the beach and don’t take a dip but I think we will take a dip this year”.
Ramsingh’s analogy about the beach was based on the team reaching three of the four finals but yet no copping the coveted championship trophy.
The other members of the squad include Guyana Martin Guptill, Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanveer, Christopher Lynn, Jason Mohammed, Veerasammy Permaul, Assad Fudadin, Steven Jacobs, Steven Katwaroo, Shimron Hetmyer and Muhammad Ali Khan.
Tickets are currently on sale for the Florida leg of matches online at Kyazoonga and at the Central Broward Stadium in Florida and the Assistant Manager encouraged fans to support the team and those who can travel to take the opportunity.
After playing in Trinidad and Tobago and then St. Lucia, the Warriors will have four home matches from August 17 to 22.
On the 17th, they play the Jamaica Tallawahs; after which they play arch-rivals Trinbago Knight Riders two days later. The Warriors then clash with the Barbados Tridents on the 20th, and then have their final home match against the St Lucia Zouks on the 22nd.
