A 43-year-old man from Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was arrested on Saturday after he was found to be in possession of a quantity of ganja.
Police stated that they were conducting an exercise at Murphy Street, Wales, WBD, when they observed the suspect standing on the street with a haversack on his back. Upon seeing the Police vehicle approaching, the man reportedly ran, and ranks gave chase. He was subsequently caught and a search of the haversack revealed a quantity of cannabis. He was taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station along with the cannabis, which was weighed and amounted to 292.8 grams. The suspect remains in custody pending further investigations and charges.
