a 26-year-old housewife is now nursing a gunshot wound at the Woodland’s Hospital in Georgetown after she was reportedly shot while her husband was cleaning his firearm.
According to ‘D’ Division (West Demerara) Commander, Leslie James, the incident
occurred sometime around midday on Thursday at the couple’s home in Schoonard, West Bank Demerara.
Further reports reaching Guyana Times indicate that the young lady, Ovita Jagmohan, was lying on the bed in the couple’s room while her husband, Deonarine Jagmohan, who is a licensed firearm holder, was allegedly cleaning his gun.
It was reported that the gun accidently went off in the woman’s direction, hitting her to the left jaw bone.
She was rushed to the hospital where she is a patient.
Her husband has since been apprehended and is assisting the police with investigations. (By Ramona Luthi)
