WCB accident leaves 2 injured

A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were injured on Monday evening following an accident along the No. 3 Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).
Injured are Joseph Benjamin, 31, of Meer Zorg, Wakenaam, Essequibo Island and Davindra Reeknauth, 48, of Old Road, Cotton Tree Village, WCB.
Based on reports received, HD 1497, driven by a 25-year-old man of Section ‘A’ Cotton Tree Village WCB, was proceeding along the No 3 Public Road while motorcycle CK 1542, driven by Benjamin, was travelling in the opposite direction.
For some unknown reason, the motorcar ended up in the path of the motorcycle, thus resulting in a collision.
As a result, Benjamin sustained lacerations to his forehead while Reeknauth received a puncture wound to his thigh. They were both picked up in a conscious state and taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where they were treated.
Reeknauth has been admitted for observation while Benjamin was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver of the motorcar showed zero micrograms of alcohol in his breath. Investigations are continuing.
