WCB man collapses, dies on roadway

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 67-year-old Britannia, West Coast Berbice (WCB) man who collapsed and died shortly after feeling unwell.
Dead is Ramchan Rampersaud.
According to Police about 14:25h, ranks at the Regional Division Five received information from an anonymous caller that a man had fallen and seemed to have died on the roadway. However, by the time Police arrived at the scene the man had been picked up and taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police on Wednesday said that the man’s nephew, who picked him up and took him to the hospital, said that he and his uncle were working in the backdam about 13:30h when he complained of feeling unwell and left for home. The nephew told Police that he followed behind and found his uncle lying motionless on the public road, so he rushed him to the hospital.
A post-mortem examination is expected soon.
Only on Wednesday, Guyana Times reported that a security officer attached to the MMC Security Service, who was stationed at Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara (ECD), reportedly collapsed and died on Tuesday morning.
Dead is 65-year-old Yvette Wilson of Paradise, ECD.
Police stated that the now dead woman was performing a 12-hour shift at a business place and about 05:00h on Tuesday, she was discovered motionless in the guard hut by a supervisor who was making checks.
It is alleged that the deceased had reportedly complained of feeling unwell on Saturday last. Following the discovery, her body was examined but there were no marks of violence.
She was later transported by an ambulance to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death. Her was taken to Sandy’s Funeral Home to await a post-mortem.
