WCD man dies after losing control of tractor

A 38-year-old man is now dead after he was pinned by a tractor in a trench at De Kinderen Village, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Dead is Sudesh (only name) of Meten-Meer-Zorg Reserve, WCD.

Guyana Times understands that the accident occurred at about 07:00h on Sunday morning while the man was returning home from the backdam.
Reports indicate the now dead man went into the backdam to plow a field approximately 20 miles from the public road, and was proceeding North on the eastern side of the De Kinderen dam when he lost control of the tractor. This cause the tractor to turn turtle in the eastern trench, pinning him in the trench.
This publication was told that a passersby noticed the upturned tractor and tried to render assistance to the trapped man. However, by the time they succeeded in lifting him out of the trench, he was dead.
Sudesh was nonetheless rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced him dead on arrival. His body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the Police said the matter was reported at about 07:30h.
According to the Police, the motor tractor (29920) is owned by a 44-year-old sawmill operator, who has a contract with the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo).
Deputy Commander of D Division (West Bank Demerara-East Bank Essequibo), Dion Moore, told Guyana Times that it is too early to declare what caused the accident.
He stated that the Force is yet to determine if there was a mechanical problem with the tractor Sudesh was operating, but noted that the vehicle is presently being inspected by the Police as investigations continue.
