WCD youth found dead, drinking buddy disappears

A young man was on Sunday found dead moments after consuming alcohol with friends at his Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home. The dead man has been identified as 21-year-old Keron Williams, a seaman of Ocean Gardens, Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD.
Based on information received, on the day in question, the now dead man and several friends were imbibing alcohol when an argument broke out. Guyana Times understands that during the argument, the now dead man threw a bicycle at the suspect, “Gracie”, and in retaliation, he picked up a knife and dealt Williams several stabs to his upper body.
After the stabbing incident, the other friends disappeared from the scene, leaving the injured young man on the ground. He was, however, found by a few other friends and rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was treated for the wound. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
When contacted, his aunt, Susan Williams, explained that her now dead nephew only returned from the sea on Sunday after spending four days. “After he finish discharging the boat, meh children tell me that he come home, bathe and went out back,” the woman stated.
The aunt recalled that she had left church and upon hearing that her nephew was back, she hurriedly went to prepare lunch since she thought that he might be hungry.
“I was preparing lunch when a little boy come to the house and called out to me, saying that Keron just get stab up. I panic and tell my husband to go check.”
The aggrieved aunt noted that about 20 minutes after, as she was walking towards the scene where her nephew was found, she was told that he was bleeding and as such, he had to be rushed to the hospital. Soon after, she received the dreaded news.
The aunt further stated that one of her nephew’s friends went to the hospital with him and upon his return, he gave a detailed account of what happened to his friend. The same friend, she added, told the police that he was not around when the stabbing incident took place.
“I was told that one the young men who was a part of the drinking spree and who saw what happened know where Gracie was hiding.”
Nevertheless, the woman noted that the police arrested two young men as they continue their investigations. Williams, originally from Moruca, Region One (Barima-Waini), had been living with his aunt for the past eight years. He would have been celebrating his 21st birthday on November 16. The suspect remains at large.
A week ago, A Kwebanna, North West District (NWD) youth reportedly went berserk and chopped 35-year-old Kamal Wilson to death.
It was reported that on the day in question, the now dead man went to check his generator which was located at the back of the yard – some 20 feet away.
Whilst doing so, Wilson observed the suspect walking towards him armed with a cutlass. Without any conversation, the suspect dealt several chops to Wilson’s head, neck and shoulder.
In the height of the ordeal, the now dead man began to scream for assistance and managed to run into his house and lock the door. By this time, the suspect made good his escape. The man was subsequently picked up and taken to the Kumaka District Hospital but succumbed a few hours later.
The suspect, 23-year-old Samuel Henry, has since been charged for the murder.
