WCW dominated by Khyber CC in quarterfinal

Commonwealth Cricket League…

It was a day filled with lots of drama as the action continued in the Commonwealth League. The inform West Coast Warriors (WCW) finally met their match as they were bundled out for an all-time low of 47 against Khyber CC in their quarterfinal match-up.

The victorious Khyber side

West Coast Warriors won the toss and elected to bat under sunny conditions as they sought to post a mammoth total in their 25 over affair. Openers Rajendra Khan and Balbinder Shivpersaud walked confidently on to the field as they took first strike, but in an unexpected plot twist, both openers soon found themselves in the pavilion being dismissed for duck. After the loss of the openers, things took a stranger turn as wickets still continued to tumble, no batsman could hold on to their wicket for more than 4 runs. The Guyanese pair of Shivpersaud and Cornelius Jaisingh were no match for the inform Khyber. Ameer Singh came to the crease and spanked a splendid 18 inclusive of 1 maximum and 1 boundary, but could not carry on as he was forced to attack as no player could support him. In the end, WCW were dismissed for a meagre 47 in 19.3 overs, bowling for Khyber were Asif Khan 2-3, Abdullah Khan 2-11, Ravish Khanchi 2-5, Javed Khan 2-9 and Farhanullah Bangash 2-1.
Need a small total of 48 for victory, Khyber had the world of time to approach the small total set before them. Danish Bangash was the first wicket to fall after he looked comfortable smashing a massive six; however, he was bested by Ryan Francis as he fell for 8. But with such a small total, it was a futile effort for the WCW side, no bowling combination seemed to work. In the end Asif Khan and Javed Khan took their side across the line with scores of 10 and 16 and the score on 48-1.
