A father of one appeared on Monday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to the charge of robbery under arms.
Dexter Forde, 25, of Lot 35 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown, denied the charge which stated that on March 19, 2019 at Sideline Dam, La Penitence, Georgetown, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Raz Ghani of $25,000 along with other items amounting to $25,000.
In court on Monday, Forde claimed that he was employed as a labourer with the Public Infrastructure Ministry, building roads.
Police Prosecutor Adduni Innis objected to bail based on the fact that a dangerous weapon was used and the defendant was positively identified by the victim. The court heard that Forde was previously charged for stealing a phone.
Forde was remanded and the case was scheduled to continue on May 20, 2019.
